A holiday to Canada sparked another field of photography, namely landscapes, and in particular waterfalls. This area of photography is relatively new to me as I have done mainly wildlife until now.
14th September 2019 - Our first 2 nights were in a luxurious hotel overlooking both falls, the Horseshoe & the American falls. This was taken from our hotel room through the glass windows, which were very dirty, so not the most clear photo. Still need to get my settings right!

15th September 2019 - My first attempt at sunrise over the Horseshoe falls. The light had a pink tinge and was not the best of sunrises for colour and the sky needed more interest, i.e. clouds, but still a magical experience.

15th September 2019 - Sunrise over the American Falls, taken with my iPhone.

15th September 2019 - A little trip to the falls at night time to photograph them lit up. I have many photos with an array of colours and which one to pick? Sometimes it is difficult to photograph the falls from some areas due to the spray. Some days you can go along and be completely dry, others you get soaked and obviously water on the lens is not good.

17th September 2019 - We went up the Skylon Tower which overlooks the falls.

18th September 2019 - American Falls taken from the Hornblower with iPhone. Unable to take my camera on this trip as we got very wet.

19th September 2019 - Another attempt at a sunrise at the falls. Quite pleased with these 2, the light was beautiful, clouds in the sky to add some interest. Still a lot of spray occluding some of the falls, but nothing I could do about that. Also difficult to view the falls without some greenery in the scene.

19th September 2019 - The American Falls at sunrise. The sunrise at these falls is not so photogenic as the Horseshoe Falls.

19th September 2019 - Niagara River from antique aerial cars. These cars are suspended from six sturdy cables where you can see some spectacular views of the swirling Niagara Whirlpool and the Class 6 whitewater rapids of the Niagara River. The cars travel over the river, crossing into the USA 4 times due to the way the border is on the bend of the river.

20th September 2019 - another attempt at photographing the falls at night time.

20th September 2019 - Friday, Saturday and Sundays are firework nights. My first attempt was taken the first night from the hotel, but the settings were all wrong and taken through the dirty glass. I then went down to photograph them at the falls on the 2nd night, but realised I was standing in the wrong place, thinking the fireworks went off over the falls, not the river as above. So my third attempt I stood further back to get the fireworks and falls in the same picture. Still quite difficult to get as many people there who have no regard for anyone but themselves, so several photos with arms and people in them.

21st September 2019 - a trip on a helicopter for my son's birthday. A fabulous experience with beautiful scenery.

23rd September 2019 - a trip to Toronto. The one above and below were taken from the CN Tower

23rd September 2019 - Toronto city

23rd September 2019 - a view of Toronto taken from the boat on a trip round the harbour and to the island

25th September 2019 - There was not much opportunity on this holiday to photograph any wildlife, and I never had the right lens on my camera when I did see some. These monarch butterflies were seen at Niagara-on-the-Lake by Lake Ontario. They were beautiful, obviously stocking up on nectar prior to their migration of over 3,000 miles to Mexico. I only had my 14-140 lens on me, so unable to get very good photos, but still a wonderful memory of these beautiful creatures.
